Supporting Bereaved Families
One of the most common emotions when working with bereaved families is fear of saying the ‘wrong’ thing. This may be particularly acute when the death has been a ‘sensitive’ one, such as the death of a child, a murder, or a suicide. This training focusses on helping professionals to enhance their confidence in working with bereaved families. The training is experiential and will encourage delegates to look at their own experiences and support needs, alongside a focus on communication and listening skills. The training will also explore appropriate self-disclosure, and occasions when this is less appropriate. There will be a focus on the individuality of each bereavement experience and delegates will be enabled to enhance their confidence and build on their existing strengths.
